Speech therapy is a Clinical practice, where a Qualified and licensed Speech language pathologist evaluates a person with a Speech / Language and / or swallowing difficulty. The professional further guides them through therapy which is a blend of speech practices, language building strategies, Caregiver training and facilitates the person with speech difficulties to achieve independence and improve their quality of communication life.

Speech therapy aids infants till senior citizens, if a person has any kind of Speech – Language (communication) and swallowing difficulty. All our Speech therapists are qualified and trained in top institutes of the country to handle Infants who have feeding difficulty, children who have not started to speak yet, Adults who have various communication disorders till Senior citizens who struggle to swallow post stroke / any head and neck cancer.

Online therapy also known as Teletherapy is at least 20 years old and it is prevalent around the globe. Here Clinicians and Clients use Technology to connect with each other. It is mandatory that both the parties have access to high speed internet and the hardware’s required to carry out an effective teletherapy session. There is increasingly huge amounts of latest research which promotes the usage and effectiveness of teletherapy for many Speech and Language Disorders. Speech therapy in order to be effective it is important that it has to be engaging and interactive that is totally possible in Teletherapy, where the clinician gets to see the person and caregiver. All our Clinicians are highly qualified and have undergone meticulous training to carry out effective online sessions. It is not possible for a young child to be seated glued to the screens for a long time ! and honestly it is not expected either ! All our (pediatric) sessions would be play based – which will keep the children engaged, which will also allow for movement and high quality adult – child interactions. Our sessions will comprise of Parent training as well, in this way – even if the child has very less attention span (at the beginning of therapy) the parent/ caregiver will have lots of take home, strategies that will work well for their child, the environment modification which has to be made for enhancing the communication and so on. It takes time for every child to adapt to a new routine, Children might take 5-6 sessions to get adapted and respond well to the new change in the routine.

High speed internet (LAN – WiFi), Laptop / Tablet is mandatory to Avail our online sessions (Evaluation and Therapy)
Mobile phones can be used for Consultations (upto 20 minutes) and for Attending our Workshops.
We don’t agree to take our evaluations / 1-1 therapy (usually takes around an hour) over Mobile phones, as we have not found great success with it in our practice earlier, we feel when the screens are larger, the interaction feels more real time and is very engaging. Phones also cause lots of distractions like – Calls in between / Notifications from several applications etc.

Caregiver training is a vital part of the person’s progress, Online therapy promotes absolute transparency, enables effective parent coaching, and allows room for the parent to ask their queries, discuss what has worked with the home plans ( will be provided by the clinician at the end of every session) and what has not, and the Clinician will be guiding them throughout. In most offline therapy situations this is not the scenario, where the Parent – clinician meets are a rare occurrence. We at Andhaadhi strongly believe all the progress we have achieved so far is only possible because of the transparency and effective parent coaching, as clinician may be the expert about the condition but the parent is always the expert about the (that particular) child ! ALWAYS ! and when both the experts team up to help the child/ person, we achieve what we want !
